Honda Canada
was founded in 1969, importing and distributing cars and motorcycles, Honda Canada began manufacturing cars in Markham, Ontario in 1986 and later opened a second assembly plant in 1998 in Alliston, ON. Honda Canada currently manufacturers the Honda Civic, Acura ZDX, Acura MDX. Until 2007 Honda manufactured the Honda Pilot crossover SUV, Honda Odyssey minivan and Honda's only sport utility truck the Honda Ridgeline until production was moved to Honda's manufacturing plant in Alabama. Honda opened an engine manufacturing plant in 2008 to supply engines for the Honda Civic.

To date Honda Canada has manufactured over 5.3 million vehicles, with 210 Honda dealers it has sold more Canada-made vehicles than any other manufacturer, making it one of the most popular vehicles in Canada. In 2000 Honda unveiled the Honda Insight the first hybrid available in North America and in 2002 Honda Canada announced it would begin selling the Honda Civic hybrid. In 2007 the Honda Civic broke a record for becoming the best selling sedan in Canada for the 9th year in a row. Keeping up with the environment friendly vehicles, Honda includes three hybrid vehicles, the Honda Civic hybrid, Insight and the all new 2011 Honda CRZ hybrid, while the Honda FCX Clarity is a hydrogen fuel cell vehicle.

Honda has been manufacturing vehicles for over six decades and is now the second largest manufacturer in Japan after Toyota; with popular and versatile vehicles like the Civic and Accord, the popular CRX has now been replaced with the Honda CRZ which is also available as a CR-Z hybrid in Canada. Both Honda's SUVs the Honda CR-V and Honda Pilot have been awarded top safety picks by the IIHS and been nominated year after year by the AJAC (Automobile Journalists Association of Canada). The Honda Crosstour in Canada was launched in 2010 as a mid-size crossover wagon and is said to be fusion between the BMW X6 luxury crossover and the 5 Series Gran Turismo, based on the Honda Accord platform but slotted between the Honda CRV and Honda Pilot in price and size.
